Labor and Compensation

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you (Psalm 128:2).

WAGES

A worker’s wage is credited not as a gift, but as something due. (Rom 4:4)

The wages you withheld from the workers are crying aloud and have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts (Jas 5:4).

Take as your wages half of all that you have brought back, and go in peace (Tb 12:5).


BONUS

See to it that you give what is due to the man who made the journey with you; give him a bonus too (Tb 12:1).

Price to Redeem

2 Hear this, all you peoples; hearken, all who dwell in the world, 3 of lowly birth or high degree, rich and poor alike.

6 Why should I fear in evil days when my wicked ensnarers ring me round? 7 They trust in their wealth; the abundance of their riches is their boast.

8 Yet in no way can a man redeem himself, or pay his own ransom to God;

Too high is the price to redeem one’s life; 
he would never have enough 
to remain alive always 
and not see destruction.

Psalm 49:9-10

11 For he can see that wise men die, and likewise the senseless and the stupid pass away, leaving to others their wealth.

Business and Profit

Come now, you who say,

“Today or tomorrow 

we shall go into such and 

such a town, spend a year there 

doing business, 

and make a profit."

James 4:13

14 You have no idea what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a puff of smoke that appears briefly and then disappears.

Instead you should say,

“If the Lord wills it, 

we shall live to do this or that.” 

James 4:15

16 But now you are boasting in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, it is a sin.
